2019 Summer Kickoff

On Wednesday, June 12th, 2019, Franck Laverdin, Chairman of the American Friends of Blérancourt (AFB), Pamela Johananoff, Board Member, and Matthew Adell hosted the summer kick-off party for their annual gala next November 8, 2019 in New York.

Pillars of AFB such as Susan Gutfreund, Mary McFadden and Sonja Tremont Morgan were thrilled to see new junior supporters of Anne Morgan’s incredible philanthropy and the Museum’s legacy.

It was the perfect occasion for the extended Blérancourt family to celebrate their friendship and prepare for their upcoming annual party. While looking over a spectacular midtown sunset, guests were conversing about the “Château de Blérancourt” and the “Anne Morgan Women of Courage” awards.

Created in 2018 to celebrate the centennial of the end of World War I, the “Anne Morgan Women of Courage” award honors women of exceptional talent and commitment to the empowerment of women throughout the world. Rita Wilson was named the first recipient to receive the award and she delivered a powerful speech on her mother and her exceptional courage.

The Museum of Blérancourt, located north of Paris, is the only museum of its kind and it celebrates the Franco-American relationship from the time of the American War of Independence, throughout World War I, World War II, and to the present day. It is housed in the chateau of the late Anne Morgan who donated her estate to the French Republic in 1931. It became the last of the 32 national museums of France.
