The American Friends of Blérancourt (AFB) is an American philanthropic group
based in New York City.

AFB was created in 1985 at the suggestion of Pierre Rosenberg, the Chief Curator of Paintings at the Louvre Museum at the time, to raise funds for the expansion, the gardens and the new educational programs and technology of the Franco-American Museum, Château de Blérancourt in Picardy.

The founder and chairman, didi d’Anglejan, and president, Eugénie Anglès, have worked with a motivated membership to expand and make known a unique museum that celebrates three centuries of French-American friendship.

Sources of funding for the American Friends of Blérancourt’s projects come from the Florence Gould Foundation, other foundation grants, private donations, and revenue from trips, gala dinners and special events..

Since fundraising for the Franco-American Museum, Château de Blérancourt is the raison d’être of the American Friends of Blérancourt, activities include trips to private chateaux and gardens, visits to private art collections, and an annual gala dinner in New York. Promotional activities to make the Museum better known include a very successful “traveling exhibition” of historic photos and film footage from the Museum’s Anne Morgan archives, as well as a student exchange program, and a university partnership.

Our Board members and Patrons, who mostly reside in the U.S. and France, include former Ambassadors, business people, designers, art and wine connoisseurs, philanthropists.

They are people who are particularly interested in French-American relations, diplomacy, history and art, and respond to the unique mission of this Museum. Many have broad cultural interests as well, and are captivated by France with its rich cultural heritage and museums. Then there are those who simply enjoy being part of big projects that honor the idea of individuals making a difference.
